Diversity & Inclusion Matter

The Brantley Risk & Insurance Center is a physical space and a learning community in which all are welcome and respected. We recognize that diversity and inclusion is an opportunity for us all, and a diverse and culturally proficient student body is fundamental to preparing the next generation of insurance leaders to overcome the complex challenges in the industry. The Brantley Center is committed to supporting students from underserved and underrepresented backgrounds pursuing Risk Management and Insurance, Actuarial Science, and Employee Benefits degrees through financial support, mentoring, and professional development opportunities.

Past Initiatives & Future Planning

In 2018 the Brantley Center revitalized a previous program from 2010 called Building Insurance Talent. Over the last few years, this program has evolved into a robust initiative to attract, support, and retain diverse talent to the risk management major, actuarial science, and employee benefits programs. The initiative is comprised of several parts including:

  • A semester-long exploratory experience for first-year and sophomore students

  • Annual recruitment dinner

  • Conference attendance

  • Executive Mentoring

  • Scholarships

Please explore this page to sign up for current initiatives, read about Brantley Center programming, or develop your understanding of the importance of diversity and inclusion in the insurance industry.
