Insurance students to compete in semi-finals of international case competition

A team of four Appalachian State University students have advanced to compete in the semi-final round of the 2024 Spencer-RIMS Risk Challenge, an annual international case competition for the enterprise risk management field.

The students — Carolina Davidson, Tom Phillips, Caroline Reeder, and Ashley Weisser (captain) — are advancing to the semi-finals along with seven other teams, each that stood out from a field of teams from more than 40 universities.

The students will continue to research the case and then present their final report live at the Annual RIMS (RISKWORLD) Conference in San Diego on Sunday, May 5.

"I am incredibly proud of our team for their diligence, focus and work," said team coach and Department of Finance Banking & Insurance Chair, Dr. Lori Medders. "I am so happy for them to receive this great news after incredible effort!"
